Belief signs five-year agreement with Fossagrim to balance employees' climate and nature footprints
As part of its commitment to strengthen its positive impact on climate and nature, Belief Group has entered a five-year agreement with Fossagrim to preserve Norwegian natural forests, balancing 10 nature-positive tonnes of CO₂ per employee. The initiative directly supports the preservation of Norwegian native forests and ensures long-term carbon storage, while safeguarding species habitats.
The agreement also includes an option for an additional five years.
Fossagrim’s Preservation Certificates represent 30-year forest preservation, and grant Belief rights to future Forest Credits® – a new class of future-proof nature credits combining biodiversity and climate value
.
Through this partnership, Belief takes a clear stance on balancing its impact on both climate and nature while contributing to the development of an emerging nature-positive market.
“We want to support solutions that not only reduce harm but actively strengthen nature. Fossagrim’s model makes this possible – it connects natural values, science and business in a credible way. We are proud to help develop this new value chain for nature credits,”says Terje Nøstdal, CEO of Belief Group.
Fossagrim makes forest preservatino safe, simple and valuable
Fossagrim develops and monitors conservation projects where forest owners are compensated for not harvesting timber, while companies gain documented ownership of nature and climate action.
The methodology is developed in collaboration with researchers from NINA, CICERO and Umeå University, and is targeting the EU’s forthcoming Nature Credit Framework (expected 2027).
“On behalf of the forests and future generations, I extend our deepest thanks to Belief for taking tangible responsibility. This is a sustainability frontrunner demonstrating that transition strategies are more than words – Belief takes sustainability beyond the desk and into the real world.
With initiatives like this, we send a strong signal that preserving nature has real value. By mobilizing private capital in this way, we can help close the financing gap for nature,” says Håvard Åsli at Fossagrim.
The term nature-positive tonnes refers to measures that both remove carbon from the atmosphere and enhance biodiversity.
Through its investment in Fossagrim’s Preservationo Certificates, Belief supports the preservation of Norwegian forests as carbon sinks, wildlife habitats and climate buffer – a tangible contribution to both nature and society.
